When some people hear the word, "healthy," they immediately associate the word with, tasteless, boring and unappealing. Yes, it is true that some healthy foods are bland and not very appetizing, but there are so many healthy good-tasting foods out there that aren't getting enough "press." One being, Green Monsters... basically a fruit smoothie with a little spinach inside! And no, you can't taste the spinach. This is an easy way to sneak a veggie into your day without noticing  :)

Next time you go grocery shopping, get a small bottle of this Naked juice to try. It's like a healthier, thicker, better V8.

My father, a veggie-hater, loves protein smoothies. He puts in every fruit we have in the fridge, from raspberries and blueberries to banana and pineapple. One day I offered to make him a smoothie. The smoothie was purple from the blueberries and strawberries, so the dark color could disguise anything green if I decided to sneak some spinach in, which I did. He didn't taste it, in fact, it tasted "great." ;D hehe

Green Monster #1:
(serves two)
1 handful Spinach* (more if you want)
2 cups Naked Green Machine (pictured above)
1/2 cup 100% Fruit Juice (I used mango)
1 cup Plain, Nonfat Greek Yogurt
1 packet Amazing Grass Green Superfood (optional)
1 tbs Ground Flaxseed or Chia (optional)
   10-15 drops Stevia Extract

*This is also a big bonus: spinach is high in iron but because of a certain compound it contains, the human body can't absorb the iron without the help of Vitamin C (which must come from another source). Fruits are high in Vitamin C, and because this smoothie contains fruits (from the Mango Juice and the Naked Green Machine), your body can absorb the iron in the spinach!

Directions:
1) Put ingredients into blender in the order it is listed in
2) BLEND WELL!

Now go transform into Pop-Eye, but through a tastier manner  ;D

  3. This is garbage... regular green smoothies are so much better than wasting money on those expensive drinks and adding dairy.

  4. Jacob,
I agree with you that the premade drinks are unnecessarily expensive, but you don't have to use them or the yogurt... you can customize your Green Monster however you like, this recipe is just one of the ones I like to make.

  5. Oh man! I never knew vitamin C was needed to absorb iron. I also would have never thought to use this kind of drink as the base for a smoothie.
